Padrino López: The FANB reaffirms its commitment to freedom, sovereignty and territorial integrity

On commemorating 215 years of April 19, 1810, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) reiterates its unwavering commitment to the principles of freedom, sovereignty, territorial integrity and anti-imperialism, said Defense Minister G/J Vladimir Padrino López.

In a statement released this Saturday, the senior military officer explained that this commitment is taking place in perfect popular military-police fusion and “is spreading like a sacred fire in the hearts of the present and future generations of our beloved Homeland.”

In this regard, Padrino López assured that our country's heroic and independence legacy currently faces the threats of a hybrid and multiform war imposed by imperialism but which has failed to fulfill its mission.

As a collective act of insurrection against the colonial yoke, in the population of Caracas, heterogeneous in roots but united in purpose, there was a lack of knowledge of the authority of Captain General Vicente Emparan, on April 19, 1810. That gesture was not only the rejection of a ruler imposed by the Spanish crown, but also a declaration of political capacity. The Plaza Mayor became the scene of a rebellious dialogue in which slaves, indigenous, Creole and mixed race, expressed themselves in the name of emancipation.

This historic event constituted the germ of the First Republic, symbolized the awakening of a national identity and was the exordium that served as an anchor to the first ideas of self-determination; with which decades later, having undergone a bloody but heroic revolutionary feat, the independence of the nation would be given way. Currently, this stentorous legacy faces the threats of a hybrid and multiform war, vestiges of recycled imperialism that replicates the predatory logic of anachronistic hegemonies and seeks to fracture our unity, dignity and will to fight. They haven't done it, nor will they ever do it!

215 years after that cry that still persists in the nationalist spirit of the Venezuelan people, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces reiterates its unwavering commitment to the principles of freedom, sovereignty, territorial integrity and anti-imperialism, which, in a perfect fusion of popular military and police, spreads like a sacred fire in the hearts of the present and future generations of our beloved Homeland.
