The representative of Pakistan to the United Nations (UN), Usman Jadoon, rejected the military escalation by the United States (USA) against Venezuela.

“We are still very concerned about the information that comes to us about news in the Caribbean,” he said and said that “we are aware that the current situation does not benefit anyone.”

“The path of confrontation does not bode well for peace in the region. We are convinced that the principles of equality as enshrined in the UN charter are sacrosanct,” he emphasized.

He specified that the Pakistani delegation reiterates the position that any measure taken to combat crime must be done in compliance with international law.

In that regard, he urged a de-escalation of tensions and the establishment of diplomatic talks “choosing dialogue and cooperation to ensure that the Caribbean is a zone of peace.”
