Pedro Infante: Political party leaders cannot run for justices of the peace

The secretary of the National Electoral Commission (CEN), deputy Pedro Infante, stressed that whoever is part of the board of directors of any political party or communal electoral committee, cannot run as candidates in the election of communal justices of the peace, which begins this Monday, November 25.

From the Gabriela Mistral Educational Unit, in the parish of January 23, at a meeting with the community members of Caracas, this Sunday, November 24, she recalled that the applicant must have an impeccable behavior, and be respected for his commitment to peace and democracy in the country, reported a note published on the website of the National Assembly (AN).

Infante called on interested parties, who must be over 25 years of age; have at least three years of residence in the sector for which he is running, and fill out the application form of the National Electoral Council (CNE).

He clarified that they will have until November 28 to submit their collections to the CEN of their commune; with which they will be able to apply for one of the three positions that will be elected on December 15 in each communal circuit.

He commented that because it is a local campaign, whoever wishes to be a judge, must tour their sector, publicize their curriculum so that the community knows it and thus facilitate their choice.

He also announced that, from December 02 to 08, the election will be organized with the electoral cotillons, and on December 5, the electoral campaign will formally begin for those who wish to apply for the position of communal justice of the peace in their community, who will be an intermediary for the resolution of civil conflicts.
