The people took to the streets to commemorate the Battle of Santa Inés and express their positions on the defense of Venezuela's sovereignty.

“We are not and will not be a country subordinated to any foreign force. Our ancestors fought for our independence and we will defend that legacy with our lives if possible,” said María Fernanda Salazar, representative of the Guaicaipura III Indian Commune.

For his part, José Gregorio Martínez from Cojedes state expressed his rejection of U.S. military actions in the Caribbean, stating that they represent a threat to regional stability.

“Those murders that have occurred because of gringos in the Caribbean must be taken into account by international institutions because this can turn into a second Gaza,” he emphasized.

Carmen Elena Rivas from Zulia stated that Venezuela should not remain in the Rome Statute, considering that the International Criminal Court (ICC) acts in a manner subordinate to the interests of the United States.

“We don't want judges who don't do anything because of the coercive measures we have been denouncing all these years of blockade, for the empire to keep its criminal court, we are free and independent,” Rivas said.

On the other hand, Luis Alberto Ramírez stated that the Battle of Santa Inés is a reminder of the unity of the People in the face of any attempt at external intervention.

“Unity, unity and unity. We have nothing more to do to continue winning the battles that come our way,” he stressed.
