This Friday, the Peruvian Public Prosecutor's Office announced an investigation for abandonment of office and omission of functional acts against President Dina Boluarte, because the president did not inform the Council of Ministers and Congress of her absence to perform rhinoplasty.
A statement from the Public Ministry states that the investigations are being carried out through the area of illicit enrichment and constitutional complaints, following the statements of former Prime Minister Alberto Otárola, who reported his absence from June 29 to July 9, in which the country was kept pending.
Criminal lawyer Luis Lamas Puccio told a local media outlet that there are “minimal reasons” to consider possible criminal liability for interrupting his presidential term.
The specialist added that there are sufficient elements to propose the presidential vacancy, suggesting that public opinion would have been deceived.
