The Cayapa Health Plan fully rehabilitated the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the General Hospital of the South Dr. Pedro Iturbe, in Maracaibo, Zulia state, with the objective of strengthening specialized medical care for children, young people and adults.
In this regard, the governor of the entity, Luis Caldera, reported that this work incorporates seven places in the pediatric ICU and increases the capacity to 10 places in the adult ICU, for a total of 17 intensive beds available in the healthcare center.
“The priority of the Government of Zulia is health. Without health we have nothing and that is why we are going to continue investing in critical areas,” he stressed.
He also explained that with this expansion, the state of Zulia reaches 124 intensive care quotas, distributed in neonatal, pediatric and adult areas throughout the regional hospital network.
He specified that these ICU areas are distributed in the Chiquinquirá, General del Sur, University of Maracaibo, Pediatric Specialties, Veritas Children's Hospital, 'Adolfo D'Empaire' , Cabimas, among others.
