During the Swearing in of the
State and Circuit Campaign Command of the Portuguese State, the Secretary General of the United
Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, emphasized that the peace and tranquility
of the country rests on a revolutionary government, and therefore the importance of winning a new victory on May 25.
“We have to make people understand that the
peace and tranquility of this country truly rests on having a revolutionary government
in Portuguese and winning the National Assembly (AN) again,” said Cabello
from the state's Guanare municipality.
In that sense, he recalled what happened when the Revolution
lost the AN in 2015, when sectors of the opposition used the
parliament for their destabilizing plans against the People.
“How much damage they did to our country, they went
around the world to ask for sanctions, they went around the world to ask for blockades against our
people with the story that 'when they put pressure on Nicolás he will surrender, the
Armed Forces will rise up', well all that they did in the worst moments of
this country, when we were in the midst of a pandemic,” he said.
He also emphasized that despite these aggressions against the
Homeland, President Nicolás Maduro showed his face and was the one who brought the vaccines against
Covid-19. “This people demonstrated to the world how to handle a pandemic, under
the leadership of President Maduro and with fellow governors at the forefront
of that task,” he said.
“It hasn't been easy and while the president was fighting to bring
food to the people, to bring medicines, that AN (2015) was fighting to harm the country for
the sole ambition of coming to power, so that they (the
extreme right) feel free to hand over the wealth of Venezuela to North American
imperialism,” he said, stressing the importance of winning the
governorships, the AN and the Legislative Council in the next elections.
He reaffirmed that the candidates of the Revolution today have a great commitment and that is to work together with the People in good times and in bad. “Good things will still come and will come in Revolution and they will come with this people,” he said.
