The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, highlighted this Tuesday the growth in the country of new businesses for the development of the national economy.

“We see how the registration of new businesses has been growing by 147%, new brands and brands by 49%. Today, Venezuela has 1600 supermarkets and 63 hypermarkets, and a network of 6000 pharmacies that together allow the supply of both food and medicines,” said the president in charge during the inauguration of the World Retailers Congress 2026, which is being held in Caracas.

He highlighted that the public sector's food distribution network is one of the most important, because “it covers 37% of food distribution across the country.”

“In a weekend, the public distribution sector can cover up to 30,000 tons, which speaks of a large logistical infrastructure capacity, the workers in this sector who have such significant growth in our country,” he said.

Rodríguez recalled that the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) projects growth of 6.5% in Venezuela for this year. “We have been recovering from what was the first quarter where growth was 2.1%, also a result of the naval blockade that Venezuela had, but we are already in a frank recovery. These are public policies that we have been moving forward,” he emphasized.
