The President of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, instructed to re-establish civilian flights between his country and Venezuela, in response to recent threats from the US president, Donald Trump, about the closure of international airspace.

Colombia re-establishes civil air service with Venezuela and invites the world to do so. It's time for dialogue, not barbarism,” he said in a message posted on his social network account X.

In that regard, he argued that "the United States does not have the right to close Venezuelan airspace. You can do it with your airlines, but not with those of the world.”

With these declarations, Colombia confirms its will for peace and stands in defense of the region's air sovereignty.

For his part, President Petro attached a publication in which the Colombian Minister of Transportation, María Fernanda Rojas, questioned the alert issued by the Federal Aviation Administration regarding alleged insecurity conditions in Venezuela.
