The president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, reiterated this Tuesday, December 17, his alert about a possible parliamentary coup that would occur next year in his country, according to the Prensa Latina website .

The president, in his account on the social network X, stated that he will seek to prevent this maneuver for the peace of mind of society and asked the People to be ready to defend the popular vote.

The comment of the head of state was released after it became known that the Council of State denied a guardianship filed by the ruler, who sought to rescind the list of positions formulated by the National Electoral Council (CNE) for the alleged violation of electoral limits during his campaign in 2022.

The guardianship brought by the legal presentation of President Petro, together with three other citizens, alleged that, by its actions, the CNE violated fundamental rights to due process, defense, presidential jurisdiction, and the right to choose and be elected.

Despite all the evidence presented, the Council of State declared the guardianship inadmissible and reaffirmed that the CNE is the competent authority to investigate the president, and the Investigative and Prosecution Commission of the House of Representatives is the body to judge him if the case is the case.
