President Luis Arce appoints new military commander in response to road blocks in Bolivia

The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, has appointed a new military commander whose immediate objective is to preserve public order and democracy in the country, at a time when 13 days have passed since an indefinite road blockade.
According to the Telesur web portal, the new acting commander in chief of the armed forces is the air division general, Gerardo Zabala; the chief of staff, General José Wilson Sánchez, while the general commander of the Army is the chief of staff, Eduardo Aguilar.
When taking the oath of office, President Arce stated that “there is the present change of military command to which I entrust to consolidate trust between our Armed Forces and the Bolivian people.”
