The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, announced the celebration in Caracas of the World Congress in Defense of Mother Earth, which will bring together delegations from 62 countries of environmentalists, experts, scientists and environmental fighters from around the world, on October 9 and 10.

In segment 6T: Ecosocialism, Science and Technology, during the Con Maduro+ program, in issue number 93, he explained that this event is the preparation and platform for proposals for the next COP30 to be held in Belém, Brazil, from November 10 to 21.

He highlighted that Venezuela will have an impressive delegation at COP30, bringing the experience of the Great Mother Earth Mission and the Tree Mission.

The head of state called for consolidating the world's ecosocialist social movements, inspired by the legacies of Commander Fidel Castro and Commander Hugo Chávez, who historically raised the flag of environmental struggle.

Regarding the aforementioned Congress, the Minister of Popular Power for Ecosocialism, Ricardo Molina, specified that delegations from 62 countries are expected to attend, with a record of 253 delegates, mostly from international social movements.

He added that at the national level, the event will be attended by researchers and 1,127 ecosocialist community delegates, who, together with international participants, will debate and build a joint action agenda.

“This space has become a space where social movements can express themselves, where they can make their proposals to the climate crisis, approaches that we can then take together to COP30,” he said.

The Sectorial Vice President of Science, Technology, Ecosocialism and Health, Gabriela Jiménez, stressed the urgency of action before global warming, citing alarming data such as temperatures in the Caribbean Sea above 1.5 degrees compared to the previous year and the forecast that the Pacific basin will double the presence of hurricanes and cyclones in 2025.

He emphasized that 6% of accelerated consumption and pollution come from imperialist countries, generating disproportionate effects.

The president of the National Park Institute (INPARQUES) and Misión Árbol, Rosinés Chávez, stressed that the meeting to be held in Caracas will be a platform to “show the accumulated amount of ecosocialist experiences and discuss how ecosocialism should become a cross-cutting axis in all areas of development.”

He reported that this Wednesday, October 08, 2025, a day of national reforestation will be held, in order to recover degraded areas and affected spaces.

He also stated that it is expected to close this year with high goals and to continue strengthening production for the following year and increasing the benefit to ecosystems.
