The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, said this Sunday that the country needs to modernize its electoral system and announced the reform of electoral laws around communal circuits and popular consultations.

After exercising his right to vote in regional and legislative elections, the Head of State pointed out that “Venezuela needs to modernize, expand and bring to the quality of the new political system to build its electoral system. That's why I believe and that's how I'm going to work on it to present to the new National Assembly the constitution of a new electoral system,” he said.

He also indicated that it is necessary “to reform all electoral laws and that the electoral system of communal circuits be created as a new system of consultation and election in Venezuela. The electoral system of communal circuits. Build a permanent consultation system, which reengineers everything where people vote, how people vote, to update.”

“What we did at the beginning of this century has proven to be just, correct (...) we need to be architects and create an electoral system that is in the territory where human beings live, where men and women live,” he emphasized.
