President Maduro congratulates Luong Cuong after being elected president of Vietnam

The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, congratulated Luong Cuong on Monday, after being elected as the new president of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

“Within the framework of the legacy of the historic leader Ho Chi Minh, we will continue working to strengthen the exchange between both nations,” said the Venezuelan Head of State through his Telegram channel, welcoming the election of Cuong, who is a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The new president was elected by the National Assembly (AN) in its 15th legislature. The deputies approved the resolution through the electronic voting system with 440 votes in favor of 440 deputies attending the session, 91.67% of the total number of parliamentarians.

The new Vietnamese dignitary pledged to be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland, to the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and to strive to successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Party, the State and the People, international media report.
