The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, this Friday, August 02, assured that he has always sought relations of respect with the governments of the United States, “and the extreme right has always prevailed”, to hinder all actions aimed at that objective.
He said this when asked whether he would establish relations with a possible Donald Trump administration, during a press conference with national and international media, after his appearance before the Electoral Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ).
In that regard, he emphasized that anyone who wins the Presidential Election in the United States, “Donald Trump or Kamala Harris, have the security they have in Venezuela and in Nicolás Maduro Moros, the only guarantee of tranquility and stability in this country.”
He commented that on a trip to the United States in September 2018, “a meeting between Donald Trump and Nicolás Maduro was being scheduled, everything was ready for the meeting, I'm not going to reveal any more secrets, the meeting didn't happen.”
“Then it became known that Trump's collaborators prevented him from holding the meeting with me. He was determined (...) Pompeo and others prevented him from meeting,” he said.
He said that “if we had met, rest assured that the story would be different”.
Faced with the current situation, he said that the US “is being dragged into another failure”.
