The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, highlighted the need to create a new economic agenda with practical solutions to international trade issues.

During his participation in the BRICS Plus Summit, which took place in Kazan, Russia, the Venezuelan head of state insisted that practical solutions must be provided to monetary exchange.

“We must put an end to hegemony through the financial system, through credit, through the imposition of economic packages and economic conditions,” said Maduro, according to Prensa Radio Miraflores.

In that regard, he emphasized that it is necessary to take bolder steps in consolidating the new BRICS Bank, “a necessity for the peoples of the south.”

He also criticized the fact that current payment systems are used as weapons to attack, recalling that “Venezuela was removed from all payment systems worldwide, as part of the aggressions, of economic punishments for political regime change.”

Maduro proposed the creation of “a basket of currencies, combining the strong currencies of the superpowers with the right to have our own currency in each of our countries.”
