In commemoration of the Day of Indigenous Resistance, the President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, received a historic march this Sunday with representatives of indigenous peoples, reaffirming the State's commitment to ancestral memory, social justice and the defense of cultural identity.
“Neither rain, nor thunder, nor the sun stop the energy of a people determined to be free. Here we are in the streets, in the Indian city of Caracas. My greetings to all the aboriginal and indigenous peoples of Venezuela, and my special greetings to all the indigenous peoples of our America, from Mexico to Patagonia, from the Amazon, Bolivar, Apure, the Sierra de Perijá, to the entire nation,” he said.
From the heart of Caracas, the president extended his message to the indigenous peoples of Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and all of South America as an example of resistance and anti-imperialist struggle.
He stressed that the Bolivarian Government reaffirms its commitment to the visibility, respect and inclusion of indigenous peoples as fundamental pillars of the history and future of the nation.
During the activity, the Monument to the Great Chief Guaicaipura and Urquía was inaugurated in Plaza Venezuela.
