The first decree to be issued by the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, after being sworn in for the period 2025-2031, will be the formation of a large national commission to make the necessary evaluations to advance a reform of the Constitution.

“This time, this constitutional reform will have to take place within the National Assembly, during this fifth year of his administration. The Assembly will be the epicenter of a debate that has to reach and move the democratic fibers,” said the First President.

In this regard, during the ceremony where he received notification from the AN of the beginning of the new 2025-2026 session, he stressed that the objective of this reform of the Magna Carta is to clearly define Venezuela's development model for the next 30 years and to democratize the political and social life of Venezuela.

“We want to transform this State into a truly democratic one of the people, for the people and with the people. A constitutional reform that achieves harmony, the unification of Venezuela around a common project, a draft of consensus,” he stressed while instructing the International University of Communication (UICOM) and the School of Planning to prepare proposals from men and women able to form the commission that will advance in the development of constitutional reform.
