From his Con Maduro+ program, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, urged Venezuelan artists to devise a Creole award system, for the recognition of their talents, products and presentations.

“There is a system for capturing and mediatizing the artistic expression of content and it is in Miami that sometimes works to mediatize, destroy, dominate and subdue artists (...) other times to control (...) That system must be displaced by one of us, created in the south. Let's be free and independent. Let's not expect anything but ourselves in poetry, music, art and aesthetics,” he said.

He agreed that the best thing in the world for an artist “is not a gringo award but receiving recognition from the people, the woman from the humble neighborhood”.
