The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, recalled this Thursday the 62nd anniversary of the historic mobilization of Martin Luther King against racism and for civil rights in the United States (USA), in which, in front of the monument to Abraham Lincoln in Washington and more than 200,000 people, he proclaimed a speech that does not forget humanity for the liberation of Afro-descendant citizens.

Through his Telegram channel, the head of state emphasized that, on August 28, 1963, the voice of the African-American leader “resonated with the desire that this nation (USA) would rise up and live the true meaning of its creed: that all men are created equal.”

The Dignitary stressed that “Martin Luther King's dream is also that of Venezuela and its Revolutionary Government, said Commander Chávez: to build a more just, free and compassionate society.”

In this regard, he expressed his solidarity with the American people, “despite the unilateral actions of his government. We support their cause and invite them to raise the flags of equality and peace, and to never let them fall,” he emphasized.
