The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, stressed this Thursday that 36 years after the Caracazo, power in the country belongs to the People, who have an “immense capacity for mobilization.
From the Miraflores Palace, where he received the great mobilization commemorating the 36th anniversary of the Popular Anti-Imperialist Rebellion of February 27, 1989, the Head of State emphasized the people's ability to demonstrate their power. “If anyone in the world asks, where is the power in Venezuela? Power is here in the streets, in the sovereign People, in the rebel and revolutionary People,” he emphasized.
In this regard, he ratified that “power belongs to the People, to the humble, to those who have always fought, to those who have never lowered any flag. February 27, 2025, 36 years since the first anti-imperialist rebellion against the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and it was here in Caracas, Venezuela, the birthplace of Bolivar”.
Recalling the events of that February 27, when the neoliberal government of Carlos Andrés Pérez ordered the population to be killed, the Venezuelan dignitary pointed out that “we are the survivors of the massacre, but we are also the heirs and the heirs of the popular rebellion of those heroic and painful days.”
