In the framework of the 90th anniversary of the revolutionary leader Augusto César Sandino, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, sent a letter to his counterpart from Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, to confirm his solidarity and brotherhood with the People and Government of the Central American country.

The letter, read from the Plaza del Gral Augusto Cesar Sandino in Caracas, by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Latin America, Rander Peña, highlights Sandino's life and work for the revolutionary struggles in Nicaragua, stressing that “the validity of his anti-imperialist thinking is unquestionable.”

The text highlights that “neither the crime of imperialism nor the betrayal of the oligarchy could erase the historical transcendence of the figure of General Sandino, who constitutes a beacon and guide for those who fight for the independence and self-determination of peoples”.

Through the letter, the Venezuelan Dignitary pointed out that solidarity between the two countries serves as an example “of how genuine and complementary cooperation can constitute an engine to guarantee the well-being of our peoples”, whose friendship “is profound.
