President Nicolás Maduro proposed to unify the demand of indigenous movements to do justice and request historic reparation for the barbarism brought by the Spanish empire that cost the lives of more than 80 million human beings who populated this continent.

“Not only to ask for forgiveness as Pope Francis did, who in Brazil apologized to indigenous people for colonialism and the use of the church for massacre, genocide and colonialism, although the Spanish bourgeoisie, instead of asking for forgiveness, do the opposite and claim in the media what they did and oppose this historic reparation,” said the Head of State.

The president rejected the comments of the Spanish political class that does not respect the historical memory of the original peoples of America.

He assured that the process of elimination of more than 80 million human beings in the American continent by the Spanish empire has no other name than genocide, even if they call it an encounter of civilizations, and compared it to the massacre that Israel is committing against Palestine.

“No one has asked for forgiveness, they take refuge in the ideology of denial. Spain endorses and claims this barbaric event as a process of civilization. It's like saying that (Benjamin) Netanhayu is doing it, against the People of Palestine, it's a meeting of two civilizations, it's more or less like that”, stressed the president during his program With Maduro+.

He also denied being part of any euphemism to excuse this genocide and asserted that 532 years ago there was a process of resistance against colonialism and slavery, which were inherited by Nazism and fascism.
