During his new episode of the With Maduro on the Road segment, recorded from the Sucre municipality of Miranda state, the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, said that the Bolivarian Government continues to deepen citizen participation in nation-building.
The National President emphasized the need to build a permanent, complete and true democracy, as opposed to what he described as a false democracy.
“We are building it with those who have to build it, with the people, with the citizens, with the population and the people,” said President Maduro, highlighting the role of the People as “subjects and protagonists of their history,” he said.
In this sense, he evoked the legacy of the Eternal Commander, Hugo Chávez, who proposed the transition from a “pink and representative democracy” to a participatory and leading democracy. He also emphasized the concept of leading role, comparing it to theater, where each individual must be a main actor in the work of building the country.
For her part, First Lady Cilia Flore intervened to highlight the evolution towards this new democratic conception. “We have evolved towards what you are now promoting and calling it direct, permanent democracy, because it is a democracy that is built day by day,” he said.
Flores highlighted the evaluation that participatory and leading democracy has had, which is constantly being developed on a daily basis, with the objective of consolidating Popular Power as a fundamental axis in national decision-making.
During the tour of the Petare parish, the supreme head of the Antonio José de Sucre Plan, Pedro Infante, reported that in the Sucre municipality there are 90 communal circuits, of which 59 belong to the Petare parish, where the progress of community organization and the consolidation of citizen leadership are evident every day.
The head of state concluded his speech by stressing the effectiveness of this model: “Direct democracy is not only true, but they are effective and effective processes.” He stated that direct democracy is effective because it overcomes “managers, intermediaries, air governments, “bureaucratism, indolence and corruption”.
