This Saturday, February 15, the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reaffirmed that everything is ready to move forward and carry on the great debate on the Constitutional Reform Proposal throughout the country.
“The Constitution of 1999 has advanced ideas of a new society, but without a doubt the Venezuela of today 2025 and the People of today 2025, is a Venezuela and is an infinitely superior people (...), that is why we are ready to open the floodgates of a great building and unifying national debate and that Venezuelan society and our people are the protagonists of a great historical reform that adapts the Constitution of 1999 to the new times,” he said during the solemn session for the 206th anniversary of the Angostura Congress Installation.
In that regard, he pointed out that the Constitutional Reform Project contains almost 80 articles. In addition, he specified that the proposal addresses four fundamental issues for the debate: The expansion of the Constituent Powers including Communal Power, the values for the construction of a new society and a new multipolar world, the country's new phase and economic model and the constitutional and political updating of the entire constitutional mechanism of the 1999 Magna Carta to adapt it to current times.
He pointed out that another topic covered by the proposal is communication, AI and everything about new technologies, as well as issues of the physical and mental health of the people.
“We already have to connect with that Venezuela, a Venezuela that has the right to express itself and exercise its sovereignty in a non-transferable way in every way for the social, political and cultural life of the country,” he said and noted that as President he committed himself to the People to carry out this proposal to move forward into the future.
“It's time to do it again and do it better now taking the experiences we've lived through, I think it's time to unite everyone who can be united based on peace, stability, democracy, participation, political stability, economic progress of their own model,” he said.
