The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, recalled the 205 years since the swearing in of Liberator Simón Bolívar, before the Congress of Angostura, as president of the new nation.
Through his account on the social network X, he noted that “after having declared his vision and desires for the newly created Republic before the Congress of Angostura, 205 years ago, Simon Bolivar took the oath of office, accepting the Presidency of the new nation!”
“It's up to us today to honor that promise of the Liberator and continue to forge a future of greatness for our country,” he said.
On February 17, 1819, Liberator Simon Bolivar accepted and swore obedience to the Sovereign Congress of Angostura. From that moment on, Bolívar appeared in official documents under the name of “Liberator President of the Republic of Venezuela”, until December 17 of this year, when he became president of the new Republic of Colombia.
