The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, assured that with the elections to choose the new governor of Guiana Essequiba, a new sovereignty of Venezuela is born over the land that Simon Bolivar bequeathed to us.

“The Cooperative Republic of Guyana has been an illegal occupant of that territory as a legacy of the British Empire that illegally occupied that territory,” said the Head of State, while assuring that this nation has allowed practices such as illegal mining that have caused serious damage to the ecosystem of that territory.

In this regard, after exercising his right to vote this Sunday, Maduro said that with the election of a governor for that territory, the Executive will be able to initiate projects to recover Esequiba Guiana for the people who live there or who want to go and live there.

On the other hand, the Head of State expressed his willingness to work hand in hand with all the officials who are elected by the people in this Sunday's elections.

“To everyone who is elected my respect and recognition. No matter what political curtain it may be, I reach out my hand to it to work together,” he said.
