This Friday, the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, urged strengthening economic integration in Latin America and diversifying domestic markets, in response to the decision of the United States (USA) to impose reciprocal tariffs on several countries.

The Colombian president warned that these measures could trigger a global recession, so he stressed the need to reduce dependence on foreign economies.

In a message posted on the social network, Petro stressed that the region must take advantage of the situation to “strengthen domestic commercial ties and with Mexico”, in addition to exploring international markets.

Latin America sees new opportunities: to integrate with each other and with Mexico and, truly, to open up integrated to the world, and to win North American markets with low added value,” the president wrote in his X account.
