The president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, denounced that the mobilizations promoted by right-wing sectors are based on manipulations and deception aimed at the most vulnerable population.
“Persecution, abandonment, injustices, hunger, misery, that's what we've experienced, those are the truths and if we have to compare the 12 years and 7 months, we'll do it, because that's what belongs to us,” said the president.
Since January 2022, President Xiomara Castro has promoted a governance model aimed at institutional stability and social equity, which has aroused the reaction of opposition groups that have launched disinformation campaigns and empty promises, with the objective of capturing votes in the elections next November 30.
After 12 years of a regime linked to drug trafficking and led by the extreme right, the Castro government has made significant progress in the fight against structural poverty and exclusion, framing its management as part of a national refoundation strategy.
