This Wednesday, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assured at a press conference that her nation will not be subject to tariff threats from the United States (USA) and will seek alliances with other countries such as Canada.

The president aspires to hold a telephone meeting with her American counterpart Donald Trump, who last Tuesday night said in a plenary session of Congress that she will keep in force her decision on the imposition of tariffs on several countries, on deportations against illegal migration and the fight against drug trafficking on their borders.

“We are going to wait these days for the call (with Trump), and yes (coordination) with Canada and other countries. This is a defining moment for Mexico. There will be no submission. Mexico is a great country and Mexican women and women are courageous, resilient (...) Our economy is fine, but there will be no submission,” Sheinbaum said bluntly.

He also explained that Mexico's economy is strong “today we are talking about employment. Remember, Sunday, March 9 at 12 p.m., we'll see you in the Zócalo. Together we move forward.”
