President of Mexico guarantees security for the 2026 World Cup

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assured that the country has the necessary conditions to guarantee security during the FIFA World Cup 2026, which will be played in the middle of the year in this country.

“There is no risk for visitors and the federal government is working in coordination with local authorities and international organizations to ensure that the tournament runs smoothly,” said the head of state.

Sheinbaum at his morning conference at the National Palace referred to the country's security situation following federal operations in Guadalajara where there was violence by paramilitary groups of the Mexican drug cartel, Jalisco New Generation (CJNG).

Sheinbaum insisted that the violent acts will not affect Mexico's participation as host of the tournament, and so he dismissed rumors about a possible withdrawal from the headquarters by FIFA,
