The president of the National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, began the session dedicated to the annual speech of the President in charge of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez, with a call for the continued defense of the country.
“We will always have a homeland, we will always defend our independence, our sovereignty, our identity and our reason for being,” Rodríguez emphasized, stating that the protection of the territory and the national future constitutes a shared commitment with the Venezuelan people.
Rodríguez stressed that the Assembly receives the annual message in strict accordance with the Constitution. He recalled that the responsible Head of State took office on January 5, in accordance with the provisions of the Magna Carta.
In this context, he cited article 237, which states that the President of the Republic must appear before the Parliament to make a political, economic, social and administrative assessment of the previous year during the first ten days of ordinary sessions.
The head of the legislature reiterated that the defense of the territory and of republican values is a permanent duty. He emphasized that “we will always defend our sacred territory and we will always go with the People to guarantee our daughters, sons, granddaughters and grandchildren a wider future, as the liberators dreamed”.
