This Tuesday, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, assured that there is no risk that Jalisco will cease to host the 2026 World Cup due to the violence that led to the capture and death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, alias 'El Mencho', head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).

“(There are) all the guarantees,” said the head of state during a press conference, after ruling out that domestic and foreign visitors who travel to the World Cup games face any kind of security risk.

Likewise, Sheinbaum considered that it is not necessary for his Government to implement a special plan in Jalisco with a view to the World Cup that begins on June 11.

With 25 National Guard personnel killed in the line of duty and 70 arrested because of the blockades, the Sheinbaum administration keeps the Command Center active to ensure the restoration of order and social peace, on the principle that justice is not optional in the face of crime.
