President Xi Jinping congratulated CELAC for its role in maintaining peace in the region

The President of China, Xi Jinping, transmitted a message of congratulations this Thursday, April 10, after the 9th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), held in Honduras, and distinguished the role of this body of political consultation in maintaining regional peace and stability.

In an official statement, he stressed that the world is facing “a centuries-old transformation that is accelerating”, while the global south “is growing strongly”.

In this context, in a review of the Telesur website, President Jinping expressed his desire that the countries and peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean achieve greater success in their development and revitalization, in order to contribute to the strengthening of solidarity and cooperation between nations.

He emphasized that relations between the Asian Giant and Latin America have survived international changes and have evolved into a new stage characterized by equality, mutual benefit, innovation and openness.

He also stated that political trust between both parties has deepened, practical cooperation has expanded and exchanges between peoples have become closer.

He also invited the countries of the region to participate in the IV Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, to be held this year in China. This meeting will discuss development and cooperation plans to face global challenges.

In that regard, he said that “all CELAC member States are welcome to join China in a concerted effort to facilitate development and cooperation, as well as to contribute with wisdom and strength to address global challenges, promote global governance reform and safeguard world peace and stability.”
