Presidential Commission inspected areas affected by heavy rains in Táchira

A Presidential Commission and the governor of the state of Táchira, Freddy Bernal, inspected the Barrancas sector, in the municipality of Cárdenas, to assess the effects caused by recent rainfall in the border entity.

The heavy rains caused the movement and thrust of land, causing mild to severe damage to homes in the area.

Despite the damage to residential infrastructure, the official report of the Vice President of Public Works and Services, Juan José Ramírez, confirmed the absence of fatalities and injured people.

Faced with the contingency caused by rainfall, national and regional authorities deployed a comprehensive work team to guarantee housing solutions and the restoration of public services to the population.

For his part, Governor Freddy Bernal reaffirmed his commitment to protecting the Tachirense community and recalled that the land problem in this sector dates back to previous years.

The Presidential Commission headed by Minister Ramírez and composed of the Minister of Housing and Habitat, Paola Posani, and the Minister of Transportation, Francisco Garcés, evaluated the roads, the affected housing infrastructure and the state of public services.

This coordination between the regional government and the ministerial cabinet seeks to structure effective responses and address the historical structural failures of the area.
