The Central Library of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) is being restored by the Bolivarian Government to guarantee the annual attention of approximately 30,000 users.

With the work carried out by the Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the UCV, reading rooms for Social Sciences, Pure and Technological Sciences, as well as the Humanities, will be made available to the university community and the general public.

According to the newspaper Última Noticias, during an inspection of the house of studies, the architect Gregory Vertullo indicated that the roof was recovered in the Social Sciences Room, which had given way due to filtration problems caused by rainwater and the deterioration of the asphalt mantle.

In the space located on level 3 of the annex to the red building, a large part of the acoustic ceiling was also restored and the windows, doors and the floor were restored. In addition, the original lamps and the replicas were recovered with their complementary elements.

For the preservation of the large bibliographic collection, the shelves were relocated so that the lighting of the sun's rays does not damage the books that are kept in the place.

In the Pure and Technological Sciences Room, located on level 2, the advisor to the Presidential Commission for the Recovery of the UCV explained that they repaired the wood, windows and part of the floor.

He added that the lamps were placed in their original location as they were arranged in the design of the architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva.

Meanwhile, in the Humanities Room, on level 1, the windows, the floor, the ceiling and the luminaires were intervened.
