This Friday, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, held a meeting in Ashgabat with his counterpart from the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, in the framework of discussing bilateral relations and the escalation in the Middle East.

Putin indicated that relations between Moscow and Tehran are a priority and are developing very successfully. “This year we have seen an increase in commercial turnover. It is true that a certain decline from last year has not recovered, but the trend is good,” he said.

In addition, the Iranian president expressed his hope of reaching a strategic partnership agreement with Russia at the BRICS summit to be held in the city of Kazan from the 22nd to the 24th of this month.

“The Zionist regime does not respect any international legal or humanitarian framework and the situation in the region is critical. European and American countries do not want relations between countries in the region to remain calm,” Ashgabat said.
