The Socialist Independence and Homeland Commune, located in the Independencia municipality of Yaracuy state, is making progress in the construction of a farm for broiler farming, a socio-productive project prioritized through the National Popular Consultation.

Raimundo Sulbarán, spokesperson for the Community Financial Unit of the Culantrillo Community Council, explained that this project aims to guarantee animal protein for more than 8,000 families in the Community Councils: Culantrillo, Los Sauces, Chaguantrillo, Las Piedras, Corocito Carlos Bonilla, Ruiz Pineda Norte, Ruiz Pineda Sur, Canaima Norte, Las Ceibitas and The Winning Mothers.

‎ “The farm is being carried out by self-construction, which lowers our labor costs (...), so far, the bases of the shed, the blocks, meshes have been placed and paint work has been carried out,” said Sulbarán, a press review by the Ministry of Communes.

He stressed that the Independence and Socialist Homeland Commune is carrying out this important work in conjunction with the Ministry of Popular Power for Communes, Social Movements and Urban Agriculture through the Foundation for the Development and Promotion of Community Power (FUNDACOMUNAL), the Ministry of Popular Power for Food, the regional and municipal government, which has allowed rapid progress in the construction of socio-productive space.

‎” Although the farm will initially have 500 broiler chickens, we want to guarantee the breeding of mother sows and laying hens. We are very happy and encouraged to produce for the country, and especially for our communities in the territory, who will have new sources of employment on the farm,” said Sulbarán.

He indicated that they plan to request other funding, to create a new socio-productive space in the short term, since coffee, lemon, avocado, and bananas are also produced in the territorial area of the Commune, and soon other items will be planted to meet the food needs of the Yaracuan population.

‎” We plan to build a warehouse to protect medicines and animal food products, as well as tools for the care and maintenance of the farm,” said the community spokesperson.

‎Asimismo, said that the farm for raising broiler chickens is scheduled to be inaugurated in December.
