Over the past two years, the Public Ministry (MP), led by Tarek William Saab as Attorney General of the Republic, has succeeded in returning 4,577 properties to the elderly in Venezuela.

The measure is part of a policy of direct care for older adults who have been evicted from their homes by illegal occupants, the MP reported on his Instagram account.

Two recent cases in the state of Carabobo, disseminated on social networks, have made visible the impact of these actions on vulnerable communities.

These cases are those of Carmen Elena Rivero, 83, and Romelia de Bolívar, 75, who recovered their homes after more than two decades of irregular occupation.

Both reported having been excluded from their own homes by people who refused to pay rent and who took advantage of their age and state of health to appropriate the space.

The cases were dealt with during the conference “The Public Ministry goes to your community”, held recently in Carabobo, where those affected were able to present their situations to the authorities.

The MP highlights that the actions are part of a street justice strategy that seeks to directly address vulnerable sectors, especially older adults.

Restitutions have been made in different states of the country, with an emphasis on cases where those affected did not have legal or family resources to face lengthy judicial processes.

The videos of Rivero and Bolívar thanking them for the recovery of their homes were widely circulated on social networks, generating supportive reactions and calls to continue with this type of operation.
