The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, invited the country's Condominium Councils to participate in the Popular Consultation on October 11.
“We invite them and continue to invite them to join,” he emphasized during the press conference of the National Directorate of the political organization, while stating that these sectors will play an active role in the presentation of community projects.
“I guarantee that the day after the Consultation we will see the results of tremendous participation at the Condominium Board level to receive funding for their projects,” he said.
Cabello pointed out that historically there has been an attempt to alienate the middle sectors from the participation mechanisms promoted by the State. He recalled that, since the formation of the first Community Councils in 2006, a space has been opened for neighborhood organization. “It was a campaign that they wanted to impose that supposedly this does not reach the middle sectors. Of course, the condominium meetings are going to join, because President Delcy Rodríguez gave instructions that they join, and they have to be organized,” he said.
Cabello explained that the historical differences stem from old neighborhood associations, which concentrated their action on territorial control measures. He insisted that the invitation to join the Community Councils is still open. “Submit your proposal. Here, no one is going to demand political color from them. That they are organized as a people, as a community,” he said.
