Public Ministry announces 146 new releases of those linked to post-electoral violence

The Public Ministry announced on Monday the processing of 146 new releases of people who were arrested for their connection to the acts of violence that occurred on July 29 and 30, 2024, after the presidential elections, because of the calls made by the Venezuelan extreme right.

In a statement, the Venezuelan Federal Government reported that 1,515 releases have been granted so far, “within the framework of respect and unrestricted observance of the principles and guarantees enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic.”

The Public Ministry reports that, as part of its ongoing work to review cases, including those involving people linked to the acts of post-electoral violence, it has jointly verified with the Judiciary a new group of people who have been asked to review the measure.

In this regard, a total of 146 revisions were requested and agreed on January 3, 2025, which added to those processed previously and which have been reported in previous communications, give a total number of 1,515 releases granted to date, within the framework of respect and unrestricted observance of the principles and guarantees enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic.

The Public Ministry confirms its status as a good-faith, objective and impartial party working for the defense of Peace, Justice and Human Rights.
