The Public Ministry (MP) this Friday, May 23, issued a statement confirming that, since the arrest of the extremist opponent Juan Pablo Guanipa, he has been granted all the constitutional guarantees that correspond to him, including access to family visits.
The letter states that Guanipa was wanted by the authorities because of his alleged participation in various criminal schemes.
Despite the seriousness of the allegations against it, the institution emphasized its commitment to respect for human rights and due process.
The detainee is identified as a serial conspirator linked to an organized crime organization that allegedly tried to boycott the elections of July 28, through violence and ignorance of the electoral results certified by the National Electoral Council (CNE).
Below is the full text of the statement:
The Public Ministry of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela informs the country that today, as a result of coordinated work with State security agencies, the subject Juan Pablo Guanipa was arrested, who was wanted by the Venezuelan authorities on the occasion of his participation in multiple criminal schemes.
Juan Pablo Guanipa is a dangerous conspirator who is part of an organized crime organization that sought to boycott the electoral elections of July 28 and then encouraged violence and ignorance of the results certified by the National Electoral Council.
In addition, Guanipa, which maintains links with structures dedicated to drug trafficking, appears to be linked to a new plan that sought to unleash criminal actions to prevent the peaceful holding of the elections this Sunday, May 25.
Despite being a criminal of such magnitude, our institution and the other organs that make up the Venezuelan justice system have guaranteed (as is the custom of the Venezuelan State) to Juan Pablo Guanipa from the moment of his arrest: his human rights, family visits, including due process and all the constitutional guarantees that assist him as a Venezuelan.
Our Nation has repeatedly demonstrated its democratic commitment and its peaceful vocation, in this regard; the Public Ministry maintains its commitment as a guarantor of the country's stability, within the framework of the protection and protection of Justice, Peace and Human Rights.
