The Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, received this Friday, from the first vice-president of the National Assembly (AN), Pedro Infante, the 2016 report on the participation of political parties and legislators in the theft of CITGO.
In this regard, Saab specified that the document received contains “evidence of the involvement of deputies of the legislature of 2018 - 2021”.
“This report identifies 351 people (...) involved in organizations and NGOs, all united in the same criminal sense: to commit crimes against the country,” he said.
He added that it also includes the list of “the political parties that were complicit in this theft, as well as the various non-fundamental organizations, NGOs, that received funding with CITGO's assets.”
In this regard, he specified that the institution that guarantees the criminal action will review the information contained, which he described as valuable, to identify “each crime contained according to national legislation” and “identify the alleged perpetrators”.
He specified that the national prosecutors with full competence were appointed: number 50 and 67 “to carry out this investigation that threatens the nation's heritage.”
