Putin: The whole world wondered if the dollar is worth using

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, assured that more and more countries are reducing their use and reserves in dollars due to restrictive policies of the United States (US).

“The whole world wondered if the dollar is worth using, if the US restricts the use of the dollar as a universal international payment unit for political reasons,” Putin said during a meeting with the directors of the main media of the BRICS member states in Moscow.

He indicated that relations between Russia and the United States have deteriorated because the North American nation imposes permanent sanctions. “And this has a negative impact on them. In the end, this affects them, including the dollar,” he said.

“Despite the West's hopes that the Russian economy would collapse, this did not happen, and now 95% of Russia's foreign trade with its partners is carried out in national currencies,” he said.
