The Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, highlighted the mechanisms of solidarity and complementarity that govern the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Free Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP) as an example of what relations between nations should be.
After expressing his rejection of imperial impositions that violate international law and State sovereignty, the Caribbean Prime Minister questioned the actions of the United States Governments against Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua.
“What reason can there be, due to ideological requirements and monolithic interests, that you have decided that Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua are a threat to U.S. national security is laughable,” he said while criticizing the position of the United States regarding the Venezuelan elections.
“In 2000, there was a presidential election between George W. Bush and Al Gore, it couldn't be decided and they went to the Supreme Court and it was the Supreme Court, with a conservative majority, that decided that the president was the candidate of the Republican party. Here in Venezuela an electoral authority (National Electoral Council) makes a decision, then it was referred to the Supreme Court that ratifies it and you are going to tell me now that you did something similar, but that in Venezuela it is not possible. Who gave you the authority to judge that you are superior and Venezuela is inferior?” , he said.
He argued that today the world is seeing the unipolar world die and a multipolar world is born where the ALBA-TCP emerges as an example of union based on love, complementarity and faith.
He also took the opportunity to confirm his Government's support for the Palestinian cause and urged the international community to act and stop the genocide being carried out by Israel.
“(Benjamin) Netanyahu wants to sweep away Palestinian civilization, to sweep it, to disappear it,” he denounced and recalled that the Palestinian people “are not temporary occupants of that land, they have been owners of that land since ancient times”.
“We must make a call, as did the General Assembly,
we must achieve a ceasefire, we must promote peace in the Middle East,” he cried out.
