Teams from the Ministry of Popular Power for Transportation (MPPT) are making progress in the rehabilitation of the Cumanacoa-San Lorenzo road section, in Sucre state, as part of actions to restore connectivity in areas impacted by recent tropical waves in the country.

The intervention includes the reinforcement of critical infrastructure and the recovery of strategic accesses in the Montes municipality.

The governor of the entity, Jhoana Carrillo, reported that four municipalities are affected after the passage of tropical wave No. 48, where a total of 114 homes were compromised, while 11 sectors have incidents that require immediate attention.

“From this command post installed in Cumanacoa, technical and logistical deployment is coordinated to immediately serve communities,” he said.

Carrillo explained that two bridges collapsed in the Montes municipality, specifically in Aricagua and on the road to San Lorenzo. In response, two war structures are mobilized to ensure the restoration of traffic and facilitate daily development in the area, “we continue to provide direct attention to the affected families”.

The single authority of Cumanacoa, M/G Nayade Lockiby, specified that the inter-institutional team serves up to 500 people per day in the event of a contingency; “the tasks cover transportation, security, electricity, food and health, with a territorial approach and direct coordination between national, regional and local authorities.”

The operation includes the participation of Civil Protection, Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), Firefighters, Police, Community Power and volunteer brigades.

Authorities evaluate critical points and coordinate actions to mitigate risks, ensure security and restore essential services in compromised areas.
