Thank you for getting us out of that hell! “, was the phrase that sounded loudly on the night of this Thursday, February 20, on ramp 4 of the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía when a new group of compatriots arrived in the country with the Great Mission Back to the Homeland from the United States military base in Guatánamo and who were received by the Sectorial Vice President of Policy, Security Citizenship and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón.

“Victims of a media campaign against our country had to leave and are coming out of hell, because Guantánamo is hell. The whole world knows the conditions that prevail in that prison,” said Cabello.

In that regard, he commented that “they are returning to their country and are being treated like human beings regardless of any judicial situation they have, here they are treated like human beings: medical treatment, identification, balanced diet, review. Everyone will be able to talk to their family for the location, because we are taking them home,” said the minister of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace.

He pointed out that these are young boys who return to their country full of hope. “Here the faces are different from the past and so is the expectation. They don't know how they treated the Venezuelans who arrived last week. We have done these actions following the instructions of President Nicolás Maduro and with all the necessary care so that they feel lovingly welcome to their homeland.”

He added that the compatriots who returned to the country last week said that these comrades were in Guantánamo and the president told them that they were going to look for them and he complied with them. “The president complied with those who reported that they had colleagues who had taken them without having any legal or criminal responsibility, just because they were Latinos or had a tattoo (...) Now they come to a second or third chance in life and that happens in revolution,” he said.
