The Republican Moral Council repudiated, through a statement, the recent announcement by the United States Government to raise the reward for the capture of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, to 50 million dollars.

The text, read this Monday by the president of the Republican Moral Council and Attorney General of the Republic, Tarek William Saab, assures that this fact constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, an attack on our sovereignty and a gross interference in the internal affairs of the Venezuelan State.

The United States insists on engaging in practices typical of colonial regimes, universally rejected, using its judicial apparatus as an instrument of global political persecution. This action is part of the hybrid war against Venezuela and is designed to please extremist factors of the Venezuelan extreme right that are committed to violence after being defeated in the democratic field,” he said, while denouncing that this is part of an operation that undermines the principles of non-interference and self-determination of peoples.

In addition, the document was described as a “desperate attempt” to build a file that would justify any aggression against our nation. “Attempting to link the Head of State to criminal organizations is an infamous slander,” he stressed.

In this regard, he stressed that the Government, led by Nicolás Maduro, has promoted a firm and effective policy against drug trafficking and all forms of transnational crime.

“Those who today launch unfounded accusations, from abroad, deliberately omit advances in this area, trying, without success, to present Venezuela as a failed State when we have demonstrated legal sovereignty, institutional efficiency and concrete results in defense of international morality,” he stressed.
