The Revolutionary People marches this Thursday to commemorate the 36th anniversary of the popular insurrection of February 27, 1989.

Outside the headquarters of the state telecommunications company CANTV, they gathered to march to the Miraflores Palace.

Elisabeth Pineda, from Lara state, said that for Venezuelans April 27 is a historic date, because they wanted to take away our peace, our resources, all our well-being.

“36 years later we are still standing, fighting and now together with our workers' president Nicolás Maduro, ¡Comuna o Nada!” , he said.

For his part, José Torbes, assured that youth have a historic responsibility to overcome the curse of treason. “We have to achieve the perfect unity to defeat the North American empire,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mariana Duran, said that the Venezuelan people took to the streets to march for the students, for our grandparents, in defense of all the public policies promoted by President Nicolás Maduro.

“We will continue to fight for our sovereignty and because we are willing to be free. Young people get up to work in the industry, to work for their families, we have decided to stay in Venezuela next to our families and to continue fighting for our country,” he emphasized.

The Caracazo or social outbreak began in Guarenas, Miranda state, with the wave of protests that later spread throughout Venezuela, in a rejection of the neoliberal measures applied by the government of Carlos Andrés Pérez and recognized by the International Monetary Fund, while the country was mired in a serious economic crisis.
