This Friday afternoon, the members of the Women's Movement Josefa Joaquina Sánchez mobilized to the country's capital in defense of peace and in support of the triumph of the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
In the midst of slogans, dances, color and a lot of joy, the women walked through the center of Caracas in the direction of the headquarters of the Bolivarian Government, the Miraflores Palace, from where the Head of State will address them with words posted on the balcony of Pueblo.
“Come gentlemen of the opposition and join us. We flourish in joy and revolution. This is the truth of Venezuela! , not the one they want to show,” said Milagros Mejías.
For her part, Mrs. Migdalia Ochoa added “we will continue to fight from every possible trench, from our homes, jobs, markets (...) wherever. We are happy that only in the revolution have we been dignified and valued, in addition to our human and life rights being respected, which is what the opposition wants to take away from us. Nowadays grandmothers work, sew, embroider and study, we are no longer just machines to make humans as in the past. Thank you for being and existing Nicolás Maduro.”
Representatives of the original peoples were also present at the mobilization, one of them stated that “now Venezuela is different. We have been addressed and integrated into national policies, in addition to being valued as the first inhabitants of this land who were our ancestors. Women are warriors by nature and today we are here defending it because we want to remain on the side of Nicolás Maduro,” said María Pérez.
Meanwhile, the elderly Marcelina Flores specified that “we support our re-elected president Nicolás Maduro, the man who has given himself body and soul to dignify the elderly and that is why this demonstration this afternoon in his support is in support of the 6.6 and a half million votes. We celebrate it and we are kneeling on the ground because our Homeland is defending itself.
“Today we are united against violence and threats against our Homeland. This is the answer to violence: joy and love. We have a heroic past, women who are inspired and whose blood flows through our veins, women who gave their lives for Venezuelan independence, today we understand them and put their legacy into practice,” said Maritza Salazar.
Among those present and from the state of Miranda, Daniela Bastidas made an appearance, who commented that “we are not going to allow fascism to take hold in our country. We regret that the ringleader of this violence is our gender, even though she really is a female not a woman. Women are patriots and work under socialism, equality, sovereignty and self-determination as a people. Count on the women president who are going to continue building Patria and Matria”.
